Daughterboy Jao – The ThrillsCO-DIRECTOR/CO-PRODUCER/EDITOR, SQUAREYED FILMS: 3.5 MINS
It’s dark…dingy… and more than a little exclusive. Think Sex Pistols’ first gig, or some seedy New York beatnik bar, where we assume an anonymous Jack Kerouac or Bob Dillon to be consuming whatever’s on offer. Basically this ain’t the kind of venue you find walking off the street. But it’s already splitting at its seams, filled with an eccentric array of punters – languishing on faded velvet couches, cross legged on the floor, free-form dancing and chaos of the general kind. The shy, retiring types have stayed indoors tonight. Just as well, as Daughterboy Jao‘s raw, corruptive sound gives the gig an atmosphere of debauchery.
